1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten: My first reading log

The North Logan City Library invites you and your child to participate in this fun, free program! Any child from birth through age 5 can sign up. You do NOT need a library card to participate. (You are welcome to sign-up for a library card but this program doesn't guarantee a library card.) When you receive your reading log, keep track of how many books your child hears from that point on. It can be any book, as many times as they want (each time counts!), read by anyone. This includes other family members, teachers, or librarians. Write down the titles in this log, or simply make a check mark on the line for each book read. Getting up to 1,000 books doesn't take as long as you might think! If you read three books per day, you will be done in less than one year. If you read one book per day, it will take under three years. The pace is entirely up to you and your child, but finish before your child starts kindergarten to claim the final prizes. If you loose your book it is a $1.00 replacement fee. There is a one time sign-up registration. We had a printing delay so program sign-ups have been moved to October 10th. You can sign-up anytime after that date.

Although the writing is for children, this critique group is for adults, but membership in SCBWI isn’t necessary. We are a small group, and we occasionally have to make last-minute changes, so it’s a good idea to get on the email list. Contact Laura Nielsen at [email protected] for more information. *This will be the last month it will be held at the North Logan City Library. After that it will move to the Logan Library.
